Sri Lanka 2016 - Nuwara Eliya

Tea production in Sri Lanka

Nuwara Eliya is in the center of the country and boasts the most famous of Tea Plantations. Dilma, Lipton, James Taylor are just some names of the tea that you have had in Canada. Plucked by these beautiful Sri Lankan women.

Because we were traveling in the heat of the Sri Lankan summer, we were eager to head to the hills. Nuwara Eliya is the destination for locals to get out of the heat. It goes from a heavily humid 35 degrees to a wonderful 18 degrees in the hills. It's even a bit chilly at night for a Canadian.

We stayed here for a full four days to paint. It takes time to find painting spots during the day, so we would end up traveling around and finding two spots per day and surveying the area for the next day's work.

Tea! This is what Sri Lanka (Formerly Ceylon) is famous for! The Ceylon tea is grown in these hills and it's an endless carpet of green!
